Fit & sizing

Montvielle apparel is cut to be layered, and sizes run true.

  • Chest — measure around the fullest part, under the arms, with the tape level.
  • Waist — measure at your natural waist, where your body bends to the side.
  • Inseam — measure from the crotch seam to the floor, in socks.

Between two sizes? Take the larger if you layer heavily or want a relaxed cut, the smaller if you prefer a trim line under a shell. Outer layers are already cut with room for a midlayer — you do not need to size up for one.

Still unsure? Tell us your height, weight and what you usually wear and we will size you ourselves — we would rather do that than process a return.

Materials & care

Wash with a technical detergent — never fabric softener, which clogs the membrane. Tumble dry on low to reactivate the water repellency. Reproof when water stops beading and starts soaking in.

Shipping & returns

Complimentary premium shipping over $150, $12 standard below that, and Express two-day at checkout. Thirty days from delivery to return anything unworn, with US returns and exchanges on us.

  • Thirty days on snow

Ski it. If it is not right, send it back.

  • Free US returns

We pay the label. No restocking fee.

  • Lifetime hardware repair

Zips, buckles and clips, for as long as you own it.

  • Sized by a person

Send us your height and weight; we will tell you the size.

What you are paying for

The numbers, in plain language.

Technical specifications are only useful if you can picture what they do on a cold Tuesday. Here is what this one actually means.

  • One

    Standard

Every piece is specified to the same brief, whatever it costs. A pair of socks is held to the standard of a ski.

  • Cut to layer

    Fit

Sized with a midlayer already accounted for, so you never have to size up and lose the line of the garment.

  • Lifetime

    Hardware

Zips, buckles and clips repaired or replaced for as long as you own it. Fabric wears; hardware should not.

Where this piece sits

Three layers, doing three jobs.

Most people are cold because one layer is doing work it was never built for. Montvielle is cut as a system — each layer fits over the last without sizing up.

  1. 01

    Base

    Move sweat

Merino against the skin. Its job is not warmth — it is moving moisture away before it cools on you. Cotton here is why people are cold.

  2. 02

    Mid

    Hold warmth

The layer that actually keeps the heat you make. Add it on a cold morning, drop it at lunch. This is the layer you adjust, not the shell.

  3. 03

    Shell

    Stop weather

Wind, snow and water stay outside it; vapour gets out. A shell is not supposed to feel warm on its own, and a warm shell is a shell you cannot regulate.

This piece sits outside the three-layer system — it works with all of them.

Build the layer system

The house standard

Buy it once.

We would rather size you properly than process a return, and rather repair a jacket than sell you a second one. That is the whole business model, and it is why the line is short.

  • Thirty days on snow

Thirty days from delivery, not from the order — so a pre-season purchase still gets tested in real cold.

  • Free US returns

We send the label. No restocking fee, and you do not need the original packaging.

  • Lifetime hardware repair

Zips, buckles, clips and cord locks, for as long as you own the piece. If it cannot be fixed, we replace it.

  • One price, all season

No discount codes and no invented reference prices. What you pay in October is what it costs in January.

The questions we actually get

How should this fit?

Sizes run true, and every outer layer is already cut with room for a midlayer — you do not need to size up for one. Between two sizes, take the larger for a relaxed cut, the smaller for a trim line under a shell. Open Fit & sizing above for how to measure.

What if I get the size wrong?

You have thirty days from delivery. US returns and exchanges are free — we send the label, you send it back unworn, and we swap the size or refund you. You do not need the original packaging.

When will it arrive?

Orders over $150 ship with complimentary premium shipping. Below that, standard shipping is $12. If you have left it late, Express two-day delivery is available at checkout.

Who are Montvielle?

A small US winter-sports house. We specify every piece to one standard, put our name on it, and stand behind it with a lifetime repair on hardware. We are not a marketplace and we do not discount the line to move it.
